Congratulations to Scott Showalter on being named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.  Dr. Showalter was recognized for his development and application of biophysical approaches to understand structures, dynamics and biological functions of intrinsically disordered proteins and microRNAs, and for his exemplary service to the field of biophysics.

Shaun Mahony has been awarded an NIH MIRA for his studies to understand the pre determinants of transcription factor regulatory activity.  This grant will support Dr. Mahony’s research efforts from Jan 2022 to Dec 2026.

We held our annual retreat outdoors at the Tussey Mountain Resort on Oct 17, 2021.  After a morning of great discussion in the poster session, we enjoyed lunch followed by the Marshmallow Challenge and a trivia quiz.  It was great to see all of us in person again after a long year of virtual meetings.

Hearty congratulations to Shaun Mahony on his promotion to Associate Professor with tenure!  Dr. Mahony has made groundbreaking contributions in the computational mining of genome-wide data for how transcription factors determine cell fate.  Dr. Mahony’s promotion will be made official on July 1, 2021.

Victoria Bonnell won Best Poster Award at the XXX International Molecular Parasitology Meeting held on September 15-19, 2019.  The is the second year in a row that Tori, a graduate student in Manuel Llinás’ lab, has been honored with this award.
